Weekly community meetings/Family gatherings


Fridays of every week are earmarked by the Executive Committee to conduct family get-togethers and community meetings. The members along with their families enjoy the numerous community meetings which are conducted from 7.30pm to 9.30pm every Friday at Hamilton West School Hall. Various entertainment and fun activities are held during these community meetings which the members and their children enjoy to the full. The group discussions, seminars and symposiums held during these meetings are helping members and guests in gaining awareness about various subjects that affect them. These gatherings are bringing out communal harmony and are helping Samajam find new talents in Arts & Sports and also in nurturing the leadership skills of young and adult alike.

Easter-Vishu Celebrations

easterVishu, a harvest festival of Kerala, and Easter are celebrated with all their fervour and devotion every year by Samajam by holding a four hour long function in the month of April.

Onam celebrations


Onam, the state festival of Kerala which is the only festival celebrated by all Malayalees irrespective of caste, creed or religion, is celebrated every year with the same spirit as it is celebrated in our native land.  A month long celebration culminates in a whole day celebration with various native sports and arts competitions is organised by Samajam every year. The floral arrangement (Pookkalam) competition with the numerous flower carpets arranged by women and children add colour to the function. The high light of the function is the traditional Onam Sadhya (onam feast) which comprises of 28 mouth watering dishes served on banana leaves. 

Christmas celebrations


Christmas is also celebrated every year with traditional carol singing, nativity plays and various cultural activities in the mo nth of December.


Samajam also organises a multi-cultural event called Snehotsavam to convey the message of love and unity among communities. This stage show gives opportunity to local artists from different community groups to portray their talents.

Youth and family camp


A youth and family camp is arranged every year to nurture our youth to imbibe the Malayalee culture and the family camp emphasises on strengthening family relationships and community.

Sports, games and arts


The arts and sports wing of the Samajam is doing a wonderful job in training members and the children in various sports, games, arts and entertainment activities. The Samajam hires Hamilton West School Hall every Friday and uses the School basketball court and school grounds for training in various sports and arts activities. Currently members practice basketball, volleyball, badminton, chess, caroms and cards. The arts wing practices their dance, songs, skits and various traditional art forms.
